What is Linux? Linux is an operating system for computers, comparable to Windows or Mac OS X (and by the way Mac OS X is based on Linux). It was originally created starting in 1991 by Finnish programmer Linus Torvalds with the assistance of developers from around the world.
Linux is a free Software and also open source! Free Software means that you can download an run it on your computer for free and open source that you can also download all the source code the programmers created to build the OS or Programs and if you want and need you can modify or extend the code to your needs. (I use it as it is :)
In the beginnings Linux was not so easy to handle like today. With a new Linux distribution I´m able to do 95-98% of all that what do with Windows (2000/XP) and I´m sure there are some specialist who would be able to turn it to 100%

ONwebCHECK - Ubuntu 8.04 Beta
After 6 Alpha-Releases now there is the first Beta Release of Ubuntu 8.04 ´Hardy Heron´. I´d already tested one Beta version and everything was fine. The 8.04 will be the next LTS (Long-Term Support) version of the Ubuntu series.
Hardy Heron based on a Kernel 2.6.24 with a special KVM support (Kernel-based Virtual Machine). To use that option the CPU have to be able to handle it. (Intel VT or AMD-V)
So have a look at it, I like it very much.

ONwebCHECK use Skype 2.0 for Linux
Now after about a five month beta test of Skype 2.0 for Linux the release is out. Skype 2.0 replace the Skype 1.4 version. The most important change is the Video-Phoning you can now also use with Linux. I use Skype with Windows and Linux. I also use the beta Version of Skype 2.0 with my Ubuntu without any problems more than 3 month.

MAC OS for ´all´
Good new for all fans of the popular Operating System (OS) Mac OS X. So far as I know it should be available not only for users of Mac Computers but it should run on all Intel based PC´s. I worked now with the Mac OS X on a Mac PC from a friend of mine and was surprised - I like it - but the first thing I said to him... it is like Linux - So you can also have a look on some good and comfortable Linux distributions (like Ubuntu) to try an other OS on your computer. Normally you can test it with a so called "Live CD" so you don´t need to install it on your computer :)

Rumors around SP1 for Vista
If we can believe the latest rumors around Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Vista it should make the live harder for people who used a non licenced version of Windows Vista. SP1 should fix some bugs which made it possible to cheat on MS Windows Vista to run without a registration the OS. And it will also disable some feature of Vista like the Aero-Design and the Antispyware Defender. Wow the bad boys from MS..... I see it so, that they have to force me to use that kind of OS on my Computer..... :-(
I don´t hate MS Windows but Vista is atm toooooo bad. So I keep with my Windows XP and Linux (Ubuntu).
