Patch for Apple's AirPort

If you're using the AirPort Extreme with 802.11n from Apple you should download a new Firmware which close a security gab in the WLAN basic station. Apple makes no closer details of what kind of problem there was. But if the firmware of your AirPort-Extreme with Fast- and Gigabit-Ethernet is older than 7.3.1 you should make an update. You can find the right download for your OS here.

ONwebCHECK: Test the GeForce 9800 GX2

ATM is the fastest VGA-Card the GeForce 9800 GX2 from nVidia. The demand for new and much more faster VGA cards grows and grows. The main reason is that new games which want to be more and more realistic and so they need more and more graphic power and for that you need Windows Vista with the direct 10X. The GeForce 9800 GX2 is a very powerful card with two GPU´s ( 2x G92-Chips) with 128 Shader-ALU´s per chip with 2x 512MByte and 256 Bit-Bus between GPU and graphic-RAM. And don´t forget this card demand 200W!
But to play with that card is really a pleasure!

Security Cameras

There are many reasons why and many places where to install security cameras. I as a shop owner use security cameras to protect my health and my stuff in the shop against the bad boys. The police mounted cameras on streets and public places they want to protect or get sure that everything is OK. In fact on places with security cameras is less crime and violence.
Many times it makes sense to use security cameras even for privet people to protect their health and home. IT Planet offers a lot of different kind of security cameras. You can find there the camera you need for your operation area and your requirements. You can search for a certain camera, your favorite brand, the environment you want to use it and many more. On the result list you can see how the product looks like and read the specifications of it. And last but not least you will get all offered products for a good price.

ONwebCHECK AMD and Intel new CPU´s

Two weeks before the IDF, Intel and AMD give us some new details about the next CPU generation. Some facts was already know, like that the new Xeon-CPU (which will be compatible to the Xeon-MP Tigerton) will have six Penryn cores with a 16MByte L3-Cache and so about 1.9 Billion transistors on one die. Really new is the information is that the new AMD CPU Nehalem which should launch in the 3 quarter of 2008, will have only a256KByte Cache per core and so only a half of the Barcelone and Phenom core but with a L3 Cache of 8MByte. But there should be also some CPU´s with only 6MB L3 Cache. So we will see if Intel and AMD will be able to realize their promises.

ONwebCHECK form CeBit

This year on the CeBit the large slogan was green IT. Everything was better than the last time. Maybe not faster but much better for the environment. The power consumption from the CPU, GPU and other chips was reduced. But not only big Companies like AMD or Intel wrote the slogan we are so green on their banner, even smaller companies do it so.
I think that is the first step to a new generation of computers and other electronic stuff and there is still a lot of to do to lower the wasting of energy. So the Green IT 2.0 will come soon.

Direct X 10 on Board

Now there are new Mainboards with Direct X 10 on board graphic chips form AMD and Nvidia.
The manufacturer will present the new mainboards on the CeBit next moth.
AMD with the new 780G with Direct 3D 10 will also support Hypertransport 3.0 and PCI Express 2.0. On the other side if I want to have Direct 3D 10 I also want much more power :)

Power Gaming PC

My customers often ask me what kind of computer they have to bye. Than I ask them what kind of application they want to run on that computer or what for they need the PC. After I get the answer I need I can offer them a solution for their demands.

But for real power gamer there is no limit. There is a new Super Gamin PC. Intel Skulltrail with 2 CPU´s – with 8 Cores 4 GPU´s and 1400W - WOW what a power!

Intel Core2duo with stolen tech?

Does Intel use in their Core2Duo CPU´s a technology without permission? That is now the big question, because the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison blames Intel to use their paten with the No 5.781.752. The patent is about the acceleration for parallel processing CPU´s. It is about the command prediction. This technology had been appreciated of the network architecture in experts as a milestone.

Now the WARF wants Intel to stop selling the Core2Duo CPU and pulled it now before the court.

That will be interesting.............

ONwebCHECK - AMD in deep trouble

Now I´m sure - AMD is in deep trouble at the moment. AMD stops the distribution of the Barcelona CPU´s. The reason is a bug in the Translation Lookaside Buffer (TLB) - It was so important for AMD to be in time with this CPU but now we can only hope they will be able to fix this problem soon. I will give you more information about that later.....

ONwebCHECK - The AMD Shares falling

The AMD share continues to fall. Is it the punishment for delay of the Phenom processor and the not yet fixed TLB error? The course of the AMD share sank under 10$ and is now on a three-year low point.

Microsoft radio keyboards cracked!

One security company cracks coding of Microsoft radio keyboards. Swiss the enterprise Dreamlab Technologies AG can spy the data traffic between Microsoft radio keyboards and basis receivers, which communicate in the 27-MHz-Band according to own data. With the decoding procedure unauthorized are now in the position to decode all character inputs of such keyboards. It was demonstrated on the models "Wireless Optical Desktop 1000 and 2000.
The decryption is so week (only one byte length) that even a PDA with a slow ARM CPU is able to crack the code fast. So be aware of it.

DRAM prices now stable

In this year fall the price for DRAM chips very deep, so the manufacturers have a high loss. Now the downtrend of the memory prices seems to be stopped. According to a report of the Digitimes the price for 512-MBit-Chips of the type DDR2-667 stabilized on the free market in the last three days between 82 and 92 US cent. Many manufacturers hope that thereby now finally the valley brine is reached.

ONwebCHECK: Rambus still alive and with new visions

Rambus aims for the year 2011 with new signal and transmission chips which should be able to transfer data up to 1 TByte/s (1.000 GigaByte per second). The Rambus developers wants to combine several technical innovations. So the new memory type can transfer 32 of data transfers per cycle between DRAM chip and the memory controller. So we can look forward to some really fast chips .... but sometimes it also depends on the price and not only on a good technology.
