I using skype every day but I had some trouble to get it on my new installed 64Bit Ubuntu 8.04
So if you have the same problem.... you can solve it now.
Copy and paste the block of code into your terminal to use. The terminal can be found at Applications-->Accessories-->Terminal
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs lib32asound2 libasound2-plugins; wget -O skype-install.deb http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-linux-ubuntu; sudo dpkg -i --force-all skype-install.deb;
